Non-Motorized Trailhead project in Huntington Canyon

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

The Manti LaSal National Forest Service is taking public comments on a
Non-Motorized Trailhead project in Huntington Canyon.  The project includes:
Horse Canyon Trailhead, Mill Canyon Trailhead @ Engineer Canyon, and a
proposed extension of a non-motorized trail (Forest Trail #5958) that
parallels Highway SR31. The extension would travel approximately 1/2 mile
from Mill Fork to the proposed new trailhead @ Engineer Canyon.
These are much needed improvements and would not only serve the equestrian
users, but also bicycle riders and hikers.

Please go to the following link,
http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/mantilasal/projects/nepa_project.shtml?project=38084
click on the maps and scoping letter and then please send your comments.
Thanks in advance,
Alan J. Peterson

At Your Leisure January 15th

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

BRC just received a program update from the Chad Booth and the folks over at At Your Leisure. Chad wanted everyone to know that Sunday, January 15, 2012, County Seat TV will be doing a one hour show on Wilderness.

I know Chad and the staff at AYL/TCS have been working for many months on this. Never before has any Utah media outlet devoted this much time to fully investigate the many ramifications and impacts of Wilderness. This show is a must-watch for anyone who recreates on public lands.

The program will air Sunday, January 15, 2012, on ABC Channel 4 in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas, from at 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Those living outside the broadcast range of Channel 4 can watch online at County Seat TV .

Set your TiVo and your VCR recorders folks. Sunday, January 15, 2012, County Seat will be a MUST WATCH for all OHV users in Utah.

Thanks for your time,
Brian Hawthorne

Seminar March-4-2011

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Dear Concerned Citizens:
Thank you for attending our Public Lands Meeting last week.  We have had a number of you express interest in learning some more about Utah and some of the issues surrounding our public lands.  From that, we’ve decided to put together a seminar to become more informed.
Mr. Bill Howell has agreed to teach this seminar.
We will be holding the meetings on Friday’s starting this coming Friday, at 6:00 p.m. at the South Eastern Utah Association Of Local Government’s Building at 375 South Carbon Avenue.
Some of the things Mr Howell will teach us are:
1.  The origin of the federal territorial system
2.  The federal trust obligation with respect to the public lands
3.  The Equal Footing Doctrine
4.  Where we have gone wrong – historical review
5.  What do we need to do to correct the historical error?
Please contact me, Joan Powell, at skamperkamper@emerytelcom.net
Or Bill Howell at whowell@emerytelcom.net
If you care to attend.   There is no charge.  Mr. Howell is doing this as a public service.
