FYI Trail Users for Memorial Day weekend

29 May

Trail users,
Please be advised of, and adhere to the following………………

Just wanted to send out a reminder about the wet trail closure currently in effect up AF canyon for all uses except hiking. The gates for the Alpine Loop opened today, but the trails are currently under closure and even if they weren’t they are in no condition to be riding. There are still major patches of snow that are 2-6 feet deep on most of the trails and super wet conditions. Just one pass through will cause major damage with the wet conditions.

Please make sure to pass this message on to others so that people avoid tickets, causing damage to your favorite trails and making hours and hours of work to repair the damage. The lower elevation and front country trails, like the Bonneville Shoreline trail, are a better option until the trail closure is lifted.

We walked down to the turnpike on South Fork Little Deer Creek #252 that so many of you helped build last year, it is in great shape, the water is flowing under it just as planned. Thanks for all your hard work to make that project a major success.

Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!

Countywide Trails Project

04 Jan

A number of the Board attended a meeting on January 4th of the Planning and Zoning Committee regarding the Carbon County Cross Country Trail that covers approximately 120 miles from Helper to East Carbon City and up through Nine Mile Canyon.  The Club has volunteered to maintain the trail and help install signage.  Carbon Recreation will maintain the “comfort stations”.  They are waiting for final approval from the BLM.  Attached is the web address:  jonesanddemille.com/carbon/

CCOHVA Behind the Reef Trail Maintenance and Ride.

30 Nov

CCOHVA Behind the Reef Trail Maintenance and Ride report, November 7th 2009

Breakfast was provided by Richard Brass “Thank you Richard” it was enjoyed by all. The Trail ride/Maintenance  started at 10:00 am sharp. It was noted that Shoot Canyon needs a lot of work, but it is passable. The By-Pass in Sistern Canyon is in good shape. The crew worked on moving some rock and picking up any litter. When we got to Little Wild Horse we notice that it needs some hand work but the crew has run out of time so next trip!

We had 13 ATV’s  and a total of 14 riders well some did walk a little.
